On the slopes with original forest growth above the village of Pa Pae, there is a forest Buddhist monastery, where monks live in classic bamboo huts called “Kuti”. Between these huts grows a wild large-leaved tea tree, which belongs to the original vegetation of this place. Local people harvest this tea and process it into the necessary forms. This yellow tea is the result of several years of testing various variants of processing methods, which could be traced from available sources in China. The tea is large-leaved in appearance, although the leaves used for its production were only tips with the first leaf. The golden infusion is darker than the infusions of traditional green teas, although the tea was de-enzymatized by rapid heating on a hot pan. The tea retains its wildness in taste, stemming from the biodiversity of the forest.
