Northern Thailand is considered the place where the wild tea plant was discovered. Originally cultivated by local hill tribes for food only, it was later cultivated for drinking due to the influence of Chinese immigrants. The tea offered is collected and processed entirely by hand in the local village community, where there is a forest Buddhist monastery and meditation center called Pa Pae. The infusion is a bright dark red, dry leaves with a high content of tips.
